Therapeutic Approach

Urmi will work with your child or adolescent to see that there is nothing they cannot fix. She will help them Think, Talk and Manage! She will help show them how "Our choices make us who we are" AND "If I do not control my life someone else will and I will not like it". She will then assist them to see the connection between Thinking, Feeling and Behavior and how They are the only One who can solve the problem----as that is what Life is all about!!!

Qualifications

Urmi did her Masters in Social Work in 1972 in India and then worked at a Family Welfare Agency. In 1975, she came to St. Louis, MO and finished her Masters in Social Work from Washington University. She went on to work for a School for Handicapped Children in NJ where she was the Coordinator of the program -- which meant working with the children, parents and the different professionals at the school. In 1979 she moved to Seattle and started working at Harborview Medical Center in the Women's and Children's Clinic and at the Tumor Clinic. She has also worked at other hospitals in the area. As a clinician she has worked with children, adolescents and their families facing various challenges. She strongly believes that children, adolescents and their families are the foundation of our society and hence is a strong advocate for them.
